At URS, the safety of our employees and subcontractors is of paramount importance. We understand the need to engage our employees in our endeavour towards the elimination of workplace injuries.
At URS we strongly believe that all injuries are preventable.
URS has a well developed health and safety training program that provides our staff with the skills to manage workplace safety effectively. Our training includes classroom sessions in addition to the latest on-line training programs and web seminars.
URS has developed a safe behaviour program that provides every employee with a simple and effective tool to help identify and control hazards at the worksite. URS health and safety best practise has been recognised by ACEA and Engineers Australia, in their annual award programs.

Introducing 4sight
4sight is a behaviour based safety tool which reminds all employees to ask themselves four important questions before they begin a task.
- What am I about to do?
- What could go wrong?
- What could be done to make it safer?
- What have I done to communicate the hazards?
4sight encourages us to not only ask these questions of ourselves, but of our colleagues and contractors. Whether working in the field or in the office, 4sight has been developed so that it can be used by every URS employee every day for every task. It is the last minute safety assessment to help "Identify Hazards before they become incidents".
A handbook has been developed to get the 4sight message to the worksite and provide staff and subcontractors with helpful information including;
- First Aid
- Vehicle Safety
- Incident Reporting
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Workplace Fatigue
- Roles and Responsibilities
